ANZAC DAY

These photos were taken when we were holidaying near Whangarei a few weeks ago. These photos were taken right behind the main shopping area of Whangarei. I like how some people had put photos on the crosses of their loved ones who had fought in the war. My father fought in the war in Egypt and my mother worked in an ammunition factory in Wellington.

  1. This is a lovely memorial ground Paddy, I too love how some people have put photo's on their crosses and the the red poppy on each is poignant. Dad served in England, Crete and the famous battle of Alelamein. I was up at Kings park taking photo's when you rang, will catch up with you later.

  2. Oh, i forgot to mention that I have yet to see a war memorial that is as good as the one in Gisborne, do you remember it, there was an almost life size lion on the bottom of the four corners, on the riverbank on Kaiti side of the city.
